About Angela Carter

Dyslexia Tutoring & Testing Specialist

I am a Dyslexia Specialist certified in the Orton-Gillingham method, the gold-standard for literacy instruction for struggling readers.   I create customized, individualized programs tailored to meet each student's unique needs.  I've also trained in several programs specifically designed for students struggling with math skills.

In addition to tutoring, I conduct educational evaluations for dyslexia and/or dyscalculia. These assessments help us build targeted, effective learning plans, including instructional methods and classroom accommodations — empowering students to become confident, independent readers and understand the basics of math computation and problem solving for daily life skills.

Homeschool
Evaluation

Colorado state law mandates that all homeschooled students in odd-numbered grade years (3rd grade and above) undergo either a nationally standardized achievement test to assess academic progress or an evaluation by a qualified professional.

If your child has a learning disability, a traditional standardized test may not be the most effective option. We can discuss the possibility of conducting a homeschool evaluation better suited to evaluate your student's progress.

My Mission

As a Dyslexia Specialist, I conduct screenings in order to provide an educational diagnosis for dyslexia, which can guide your steps as a parent towards finding the right products and services to help your student learn to read, spell, write, survive, and even thrive in a world that is not often friendly to people with dyslexic tendencies.

As an Orton-Gillingham dedicated dyslexia tutor, my mission is to empower every student by providing personalized, research-based instruction that aligns with their unique learning style. I believe that all students deserve to be taught in the way they learn best, fostering confidence, success, and a lifelong love of learning. Through patience, encouragement, and structured, multisensory approaches, I strive to unlock each student’s potential, ensuring they have the tools and strategies needed to thrive in both academic settings and beyond.

Student Success Stories

“My son has been working with Mrs. Carter for several years, his confidence has grown and he can sound words he never would have tried to before. He continues to grow with this systematic approach to teaching reading. We are very grateful for all the time she has spent working with us.”

Angel Galvan - Parent

“Mrs. Carter is an amazing and fun teacher to work with. I have worked with her for 5 years and my reading has improved significantly.”

AJ - student

I cannot begin to tell you just how much we love Angela!  Her knowledge and ability to reach my son, all while being encouraging and kind and perhaps most importantly, able to challenge him, is simply, priceless.   She is more than a reading specialist,  she is truly an angel to us!

Parent

My son was a 4th grade boy who avoided reading at all costs, so unsure of himself as he struggled with his reading skills.  He was embarrassed by his inability to "get it", and now he is a confident reader! He looks forward to his time with Angela, and we see his improvement.  ...

Angela was able to identify what he was struggling with and then able to help him understand what was going on with the way his brain interpreted words and letters.  She was able to not only able to help him "get it", but gave him tools to help him overcome the obstacles he was encountering.
